Put qb average stats like that on todays CC, (Howell, SL, WLW ect....) they'd be dynomite. I take it you played during Mach's tenure?

82patriotmissle wrote:Yep, and it was dynomite enough to go 24-1 over that two year stretch. To be honest I was hoping that would continue and be built upon, but it really has not happened, besides a little bit with Tom Jakacki in 2001. Looking at the numbers I said were the average may be a little better than actually happend, but it's not that far off. Maybe take off a few attempts.

Without a doubt, they're on the way back. The dust is settling from the move. CC is putting roots in the community and feeder schools every day. Mark my
words, it won't be long...

"Colonel...question...
Novi gets game film every week. What difference does it make who their next week opponent played the previous week?" Let's say Novi plays South Lyon for the title. In the two previous weeks, they have played Hartland and Pinckney, the worst teams in the league. South Lyon runs their base stuff and wins without showing anything, nor hardly breaking a sweat. How valuable are those films? Now let's say instead of playing Hartland and Pinckney, Novi has South Lyon on film against Milford and Brighton, both of whom South Lyon had to throw everything they had at them in order to win the game. How valuable are those films? Trust me, there is a very big difference. And to everyone else who responded to me, I never said that Milford was good, and I agree that they aren't. In fact, they aren't very tough mentally. However, they are not that bad, and are not as bad as their record or position in the standings would indicate to the casual observer. That said, their season has been a major disappointment. If Markowski does a "Top 5 disappointing teams" article next week, fully expect the Mavericks to be #1 on his list. I don't think anyone would argue, especially myself. ![]() |

Interesting stat:
Who led the conference in points scored? The 7th place (tie-breaker = head-to-head) Milford Mavericks, with 183 points scored for an average of 26 per game. That's plenty of offense to win at least 5 out of 7 games if your defense and special teams are even average. Notice also that Milford was 6th in points allowed, with 152 for an average of 22 per game. ![]() |

The score of the Pinckney/Milford game was actually 47-7, not 53-7. On the next-to-last play of the game, a Milford player raced for a TD. The refs, however,
blew an inadvertent whistle right before the player crossed the goal line. The refs then mistakenly gave Milford the ball at the 3, the point at which the
whistle blew, instead of replaying the down as rules dictate. In the confusion, the Pinckney scoreboard operator thought Milford was going for 2, rather than
playing a down, so he gave them 6 points they didn't actually score. And, yes, I was referring to conference games only.
Another bizarre play happened in this game; perhaps the weirdest thing I have ever seen in a football game. A Milford player scored a TD, and a Pinckney player hit him late in the end zone for a 15-yard penalty. The Pinckney player argued and received an unsportsmanlike penalty. Since both were dead-ball fouls, Milford chose to have them both enforced on the kickoff. Then, on the PAT try, Pinckney roughed the kicker. The 45 yards in penalties placed the ball at the Pinckney 15 yard-line, where the Milford backup kicker teed-up the ball and promptly split the uprights from 25 yards out for a touchback. This put the ball 5 yards behind where they kicked off from. The score at this point was 41-7, so Milford didn't try to squib or on-side kick, as field position really didn't matter. ![]()

Props to Stevenson, whether or not I or anyone thought WLW was a great team, winning in the fashion that Stevenson did showed something.
Could this be the year for Stevenson? I have no clue. By the way, Stevenson beating CC in the playoffs this year would be less of an upset than WLC beating OLSM in last years playoffs. --- anything can happen in football which is why I love it! Though I still think Novi is the best team in the KVC/WLAA nation -- Stevenson is getting closer. |
