For the masses who may or may not have seen these two websites. At www.Novifootball.org you can find out
that-"Novi defeated Hartland 28-21 on Friday. The victory gave the Wildcats the KVC Co-championship. ". At www.howellfootball.com you will read that-"The now Kensington Valley Champion Howell Highlanders defeated the 2006 KVC champion S. Lyon team Friday night. After making adjustments at
half time, Howell dominated both sides of the ball to clinch the KVC title for the first time in thirteen years at Howell. Also, with the creation of the
Kensington Lakes Activities Association Super Conference next season, Howell will go down in history as the last team to be reigning KVC football
Champs.". Talk about two completely different approaches to maintaining a website. I was under the impression that BOTH teams
were Co-Champs with 6-1 league records? Did I miss a secret coaches ballot that determined Howell was the unanimous and outright winner of the KVC? It's at
very least a slap in the face to Novi IMO. I guess being ACCURATE is second to "SPIN" for the Howell webmaster. Congrats Howell!!!!! oh, and you too
Novi..... I think. I know I'll fondly remember the final season of the KVC in which the KVC Champion Howell Highlanders defeated/dominated S. Lyon
(couldn't even spell out "South") and entered the new KLAA as the last reigning KVC football Champs!
Hey Novi, way to take the high road as always.

I'll just say in my opinion ...
CO-ANYTHING is bad for sports!!!! After a tough season, the teams who were the best in the KVC over 9 weeks finished the season exactly how they started it, tied for first. I believe that in MHSAA soccer you can finish the season as the Co-State Champs, as the final game can end in a TIE. The moral of the story is that if soccer does it, it must be wrong. |

Searn,
Once again, I have NO proof of the suicide story, which would certainly be sad if it was true. "The common man revels in HAVING WON. The champion finds his satisfaction in WINNING." - F.H. Yost

Searn, I agree with you. The whole "Co-Champion" thing doesn't ring well with me either. This is the first time Novi has had to share a
title in their KVC history, so I'm sure they aren't too thrilled either. I guess that's why you try to win ALL your conference games. Novi's
loss to Milford seemed to be a good and a bad. It kept them from winning the title outright, but it was also the game when they began their season (since the
4th quarter, they haven't slowed down). Football is a funny thing some times. Congrats to Howell for an outstanding season and a 5th KVC "crown"
(final tally 2 outright KVC titles- 1984 & 1985, 3 shared 1992/1993/2007). Congrats to Novi for turning a possible disaster into your 8th KVC
"crown" ( 7outright 1981/1986/1987/1988/1989/2003/2004, 1 shared 2007).

Sorry, no drinks! The text ended up bigger than I was planning ... Interesting rumor, and horrible for the family. But if true, one of those big overreactions that we sometimes in society have to individual incidents. That was clearly a kid who had big time issues outside of soccer that needed to be taken care of. Would you even feel like you won a state title ending in a tie? What did they do in the earlier tournament games to decide ties? Someone must have moved on so I can't see why they would change the rules for the finals. Back to the KVC tie. Just my opinion... and this goes for college football as well .. if you are not going to have a conference title game, at least have some sort of tiebreaker rules to decide the first place, second place, etc. Head to head, point differentials or whatever else you can think of. How does the WLAA do the tiebreakers to decided who plays who for crossovers? ... I hope they look to something like that to decide the division champs in the new KLAA. In 2007, it's easy ... Novi beat Howell = Novi Wilcats THE KVC Champs Other years it might be more complicated. |

Correction: The Big Ten does use head-to-head as its first tie-breaker. In the event that more than two teams are tied, and if head-to-head
cannot decide the champion, then the title goes to least recent participant.

TNT, Interesting that I have heard that same rumor.
Stats, nice reply. Congrats on the win tonight. Searn, just because you never played the game of futbol does not mean that it is wrong....45 minutes of not set plays means it is a real thinking man's game. And....they don't require pads to hit. But that is just me. I also chose to see sports like Water Polo, Field Hockey, Track and Field, at 96 Olympics in Atalanta. |
