I think soccer finally rid themselves of that crazy co-state champs rule. The rumor was that a young man playing goalie had committed suicide in the late 90's after losing a tournament game during a shootout, so the state went with the co-champs rule. I believe they returned to doing a shootout recently, but I cannot confirm that either.

Once again, I have NO proof of the suicide story, which would certainly be sad if it was true.

Interesting rumor, and horrible for the family. But if true, one of those big overreactions that we sometimes in society have to individual incidents. That was clearly a kid who had big time issues outside of soccer that needed to be taken care of.

Would you even feel like you won a state title ending in a tie?

What did they do in the earlier tournament games to decide ties? Someone must have moved on so I can't see why they would change the rules for the finals.

Back to the KVC tie.

Just my opinion... and this goes for college football as well .. if you are not going to have a conference title game, at least have some sort of tiebreaker rules to decide the first place, second place, etc.

Head to head, point differentials or whatever else you can think of. How does the WLAA do the tiebreakers to decided who plays who for crossovers? ... I hope they look to something like that to decide the division champs in the new KLAA.
