Stevenson 28-21 over Novi. This game has two outcomes either Novi keeps it close and the game goes either way, or Stevenson overwhelms them like most of their
opponents and wins by 14-21 points. Some of that Novi "luck" would be nice for this game...... good luck to both teams.

Going with my status quo on this one Statman, I haven't predicted a Novi game at any time this year when it was important. I can't go against that
trend. I know Tommy doesn't give Novi a chance. I know MOST people don't give them a chance. I've seen all the comparisons on common opponents,
I've heard about how Novi has been playing "above" themselves, etc. etc. I understand that Stevenson has a GREAT team this year. I see that
they've basically destroyed every team they've played (except last week with a substitute QB...we missed by a week...lol), I've heard all about
their offensive weapons, fairly solid "D". I've seen people say Novi will be the toughest team they've faced yet or the KVC is down and they
don't stand a chance....thru it all I've stayed MUM. I agree with pastback that there are two likely scenarios- a tight game, which I suppose would
favor Novi (been doing it ALL year),or a blowout, which would mean Stevenson likely ran them off the field. All I can predict is this- Tab Kellepourey will
have a plan in place to win the game and IF (always the IF,IF,IF's in the playoffs).....and IF, Novi's kids execute whatever he devises, they will be
in a position to win the game. Novi doesn't have the luxury anymore of "sneaking" up on opponents in the playoffs....they've slayed too many
"giants" (i.e. favored/undefeateds) in recent years to lay low in the weeds. I can say this- I will be in attendance! I wish for the same thing
everytime, a clean game, a good game, and NO injuries to either squad. Good Luck Stevenson! Good Luck Novi! May the best team win, or the "luckiest"!

I don't predict either. I knew Stevenson would be a good team when I first saw them in our 4-way scrimmage this year... but that's all I've seen
of them.
I do feel that the winner of this game will have the upper hand getting to the semi-finals (probably against Warren Cousino). For me, it all depends what Novi team shows up. Will this be the same team that has dominated in the second round of the playoffs in recent years (shut out 10-0 Canton in 2004, beat 10-0 Adrian in 2003, surprised 9-1 Lake Orion in 2002)? Those were 3 VERY VERY TOUGH teams. I don't know how this 2007 Novi team compares to their 2003 Semi-finals team, but this team is certainly better than the 2004 and 2002 team (in my opinion). I'm hoping for a great game. There is no outcome that will surprise me. |

Novi as underdog = dangerous for the opponent
Novi as favorite = dangerous for Novi I think Novi could surprise. Very similar things were being said when the Wildcats took on a highly rated Canton squad in 2004. Novi won at Canton, 20-0. That said, Stevenson appears to be much better if one compares scores, and, if the SHS QB is healthy, this could be a healthy margin of victory for the Spartans. I'll take Novi and the points to cover. Let me conclude my comments by saying that Novi could make it to Ford Field as the "east" side of the bracket is much weaker. And if they do make it all the way to Turkey weekend, I am going to put a bullet in my head out of frustration. ![]() |

Well, even though some people think I said Novi does not stand a chance, nothing could be further from the
truth..
1. Do I think Stevenson will win? Yes, they will have more playmakers than Novi has seen all year...Game is also on Turf where the speed can be taken advantage of.. 2. Do I think Novi can win? Yes, they have one of the best coaches in the state in my opinion..Because of that, you can Never count out Novi.. They have also been in close game all year..That in itself is a huge advantage. 3. Finally, it all comes down to the White brothers...Mitchell White is back this week after being out last week with an injury..As everyone knows, losing your starting quarterback who is the heart and soul of your team has a major impact..That is why I believe the score from last weeks game was a little mis-leading.. 4. With all this said, Im hoping to watch a fantastic game on friday..I do believe Stevenson will come out on top, but it will be a very close game.. Stevenson 27 - Novi 24

For the Colonel - please do not do that.
For Statman and Cya, GO 'CATS!!! For the record I have Novi at Ford Field to lose to the winner of Region 1 and 2 'CATS ARE BACK! |

Tommy, you know I was just messing with you when I said "even though Tommy doesn't give them a chance". I've said a few times since last friday that Novi should be a decided underdog, based on how this season has gone for both teams. I still believe Novi
should be a decided underdog. Outside of winning 7 straight games in a KVC that many feel is down, they haven't exactly lit the world on fire. It's
easy to understand why ANY logical person would choose Stevenson. Novi appeared to struggle against Northville, Novi appeared to hang on against Hartland, Novi
appeared to get 'lucky" in wins over Lakeland & Howell. They did get "Lucky" in a win by forfeit. Nothing about their season, looked at
in a microscope is impressive, but I guess when you widen out it starts to look better.

I like the underdog in this one by a margin of a field goal or less. Novi has team speed and they've gained expeience of playing and winning close (playoff
type) games. Novi has knocked off three + first place undefeated's this season. I doubt there is any intimidation at this point by Stevenson's perfect
record or margin of victories in the Novi lockerroom. Defensively, Novi is a juggernaut, bend not breaking style which leads to big (termed "lucky")
plays. I really like this matchup for the 'Cats. I'll also add it as a KVC "homey" pick. Good luck to both teams.
I'm hoping for a CC - Novi matchup down the road...

82patriotmissle wrote:Speed does not equal size and speed, winning "close" games and indeed getting lucky along the road. Great coaching staff they have in Novi, but you have to give undefeated Livonia Stevenson a little credit at least, Novi could easily be 5-4 and out of the picture at this point based on all the close or "lucky wins" they have had to this point, Novi has lost 4 games by 15 points two of which very close (Lakeland and Howell) and have a credited win on a forfeit, also lets not foget to include the loss to Milford but the Cats have a chance without a doubt, and bend better not brake for Novi because Stevenson will be solid and poised, talk around town is they are looking past these KVC Cats. I will undoubtedly be routing for the Wildcats Stevenson could be doubting the Cats in this one like tommyz says I wont be suprised with the score of this one, and I think us KVC'ers are definately behind them Wildcats Go KVC lets go out on top!

LHSfan: I differ from what you see as being "lucky"- occurring by chance. I see their Novi it as to being prepared to play. Novi throttled the Howell's punishing offense by allowing zero touchdowns. A fourth and 15+ made by Novi enroute to scoring late in the game can be seen by some as "lucky", but to me, that was planned and executed. Novi defense held Lakelands to one touchdown though being thoughoghly outplayed. A blocked extra point and a missed field goal by Lakelands to me is more of an execution misfortune for Lakelands than Novi being "lucky". A late goal line stand and stop by Novi vs. Churchill could be considered by some as "lucky", but the defensive play was made and I don't see luck having anything to do with it. The forfeit win is as close as I see as a "lucky" win, the game was played and Novi lost. Somebody made a mistake and Novi benefited from it. Luck to me is a random chance. I don't see luck in all but one of Novi's wins. Good "luck" to your team. |

I have to agree, Novi's record this year should not be written off as "lucky". I like what PastBack45
said about luck, "the harder I work, the luckier I seem to get". That pretty much sums it up. I also feel that a strong defensive stand to end a
ballgame, should never be misconstrued as lucky. I hope Novi's Coaching Staff has some more of that magic stuff
that they do to prepare a team to get "lucky". They sure do make for exciting games to watch. GO CATS !

Well, speaking for myself I'm starting to get the pre-game jitters. I almost feel like I'm going to be playing. It's that weird feeling of
excitement and the unknownall combined. Like going up te steep hill of a rollercoaster. What am I going to see tonight? Who knows? I just hope the
"luck" doesn't run out. Best of luck to Livonia Stevenson (I hope they have enough parking, I am not looking forward to trying to find a spot)
and to Novi, do what you do, Grind!
Good Luck to Lakeland. Represent the KVC the same way you did all year. Gritty and tough. Grinders! |
