Sand Creek has got to get it done one of these years.......
TCSF seems to have lost a lot, Mendon returns enough to be dangerous. Seems these two are always in the mix come playoff time though. I'm a WMC fan but dont think Ravenna is quite there yet. |

I said Mendon. Yeah, yeah, it's easy to vote for the team that won last year; I know. But what would Michigan High School High School football playoffs be
without a St. Joe Valley Conference state champion somewhere in the mix? Of course, Constantine could always sneak into the equation (probably D6?)

My vote is for none of the above.........
I'm looking at Holton to take it this year. (that is, assuming that Muskegon Catholic Central is in Division 8 this year, IF MCC even makes the playoffs at all this year. IF M.C.C. falls into Div. 7, then they are my pick to win it) Many of you have not heard of the Red Devils. They have been putting together a very decent program the last few years. Last year they lost in OT to Muskegon C.C. .in the playoffs (which later lost by 1 to champion Mendon). The toughest part of the playoffs for Holton every year is trying to beat all the tough competition in West Michigan every year. Holton split a 2 game series with Mendon recently also, so the Hornets know how good this program is. All of this has nothing to do with that fact that my former roommate, and best friend while at N.M.U. in the 80's, just happens to teach/coach at Holton.
By the way, Holton has a great home field now, with artificial playing surface.

Holton does have a nice facility, but it seems the reason they were building a "program" is due to Fairfield being the Head Coach. The Red Devils
have a new Coach this year correct? Plus it seems they lost a lot. Will they still run the Veer? How was the JV team last season? Any good Jr.'s coming up?

Holton split a 2 game series with Mendon recently also, so the Hornets know how good this program is.It is also true that the Hornets was a very robust 3 - 6 won loss record that particular year as well. MCC might have taken Holton a little bit lightly during the playoffs having beaten them by 2 Td's during the regular season. Holton has only made the playoffs 4 times so don't make them out to be a traditional power.

You've gotta be thinking about TCSF. D1 prospect returning for JR. year, stacked line. Didn't lose much from last year. Have something to prove.
Have to stay healthy, don't go too deep at key positions.

Mendon is the obvious choice. Isnt Waterford Lakes in D7? Wouldnt they be a favorite?

TCSF and Mendon will repeat at Ford Field this fall. Mendon lost some key players but have a ton of talent back. SF will be running a new offense with a new
coach and has as much talent in the line and at receiver as they ever have. The big questions for SF will be if the QB Williams will be able to pull it
together mentally or will he freak out come crunch time.

The last 2 seasons the SF QB falls under pressure in the last game, and here comes a post about SFs QB this year who hasn't played a lick, and your
questioning his abilities under pressure? Seems like you might want to give the kid a chance. A healthy SF goes the distance this year.

sackmaster wrote: I don't think anyone questioned his abilities under pressure. The point being made by cleo was simply that this kid has not yet had to play on a big stage. Any guess as to how he will react is simply that, a guess. I think cleo was implying that if the kid deals with the pressure, St. Fancis has a good shot; if he doesn't... |

I think Mendon will not be as prepared to head into the postseason like they have before, especially since they don't have to slugfest of the SJV to deal
with anymore. Especially, since the best team that they will play this year will likely be Centreville or St. Joe Lake Michigan Catholic. Eau Claire may be
tough. The best game of the year be out of the way early when they play Gobles. I'm taking St. Francis this year...
Bring back my show, "The Arena", to Battle Creek, please!!! Call my boss! |

sackmaster wrote: By your own post it would stand to reason Williams will be facing an uphill battle based on the past two seaon ending losses by TCSF. It is fine for you to be a homer, but at least admit that fact up front. My pick for D 7 this year is SF and that will not change. You seem a bit defensive about my statement, Mrs. Williams. |

HSSportsGuru wrote: So give us the skinny on Holton - starting with where they are physically located or what league they play in. Sounds like the 'money' is on TCSF and MCC - two teams that are no strangers to deep playoff runs. HSSGuru, If you went to Northern, I will assume you, on at least one occasion, took a cooler of 'sodas' to Pictured Rocks. You may or may not have heard that half of the battlement of Miner's Castle collapsed in the Spring of '06. Heck, back when you went, you might even have been able to walk out partway onto the battlement. Definitely 'God's Country' as the sign at the bridge used to say.And was it you that posted to me that Munising could rise again this year? It would be a big turn around for them. |

I have to be rooting for the SE Michigan boys. I think that Sand Creek has a great chance to break through and get a title!

Sorry, every year SC is in the late playoff hunt but can never get to the big game and that trend will continue this season.

I have great confidence in the Mendon system, but I also would like the skinny on Holton - Mendon has not posted their open league second game and I
wouldn't be surprised if we played them. Gobels will be a good game as always - could go either way, I think. With a new QB at TSSF, who returns will be
key. I'm a little concerned about the St. Joe valley splitup, and like Nater said if it will provide the playoff-level games needed to make the run.
Two-a-days start today! Football on the horizon! |

I voted for TCSF because:
1. Mendon's league is much weaker than last year 2. Holton is not a choice (also, they are in a tough new league) |
